About the Track
The trail is a new purpose built cross country track that will entertain riders of all skill levels. The terrain ranges from flat grassland to rocky outcrops and tight animal tracks. It will test the best of riders in both climbing and descending at speed, yet beginners will still find the track fun and accessible. Creek crossings, log hops and wooden bridges are scattered over the 5km and make the single track flow nicely and provide some points of interest. While the majority of the trail is skinny single track, there is a stretch of fireroad to give passing opportunity.

Team Specific information
Riding the 6hr in a team means a little less work for each rider and creates some great team rivalries and racing. Each team can have either two or three riders and teams can share bikes. Each team will have a single number plate that will need to swapped when rider changers are made. Teams can contain male and female riders, elite and sport teams can contain maximum one junior (under 15years) rider. You may only have one team member riding a lap at any time. It is a relay style event where team members swap at the end of each lap. There may be times when no team member is riding and that is fine, but no more than one team member may be doing laps at any one time.
If you have a rider that has a mechanical or has a wreck or anything else that hinders them from finishing a lap, they may radio in at the check points and get another rider out on the course. The lap, however close to completed, will be canceled and will not count towards the team total. As such, it pays for riders to be prepared mechanically enough to limp to the start/finish line where teams riders may use any support available from fellow team members, other teams or family and friends.
Solo Specific information
Solo riders will do it a fair bit tougher over the 6 hours, a good level of endurance will be required. Solo riders may get support from family and friends and other riders at the pit area.
General Rules
- The team or solo rider with the most COMPLETE laps will win that category.
- The track is marked with blue ribbon and arrows. If a rider shortcuts the track they will be DQ'ed.
- Team rider changers can only be made at the start/finish line.
- Racers may ride as many laps consecutively as they wish. Each racer must ride a minimum of 1 lap during the 6 hour period.
- Riders do not have to be on the track for the whole 6hr period. You may stop and rest or feed.
- Pass left or right: If you approach a rider and are looking to pass them and you have room to pass on their left or right call "pass left" or "pass right". If you hear a rider call "pass left" or "pass right" please make the effort to allow room.
- Call your Number - As you pass the Timing Tent at the finish line please call out your race number clearly and loudly to aid in your lap being counted. Pass the timing tent in a single file.
Night Riding
There will be roughly 1.5hrs of night riding for those teams and solos doing the full six hours. A reasonable lighting system will be required to get around the track safely. Lights will be available on the night at a discounted rate and use a 1 watt led system at around 80 lumins, this is just enough light. Its also recommended to use a helmet mounted unit, these can be had at camping stores under $20.
Food and Drinks
There will be a BBQ kicking off at 4pm and will have a fresh batch of meat every hour or so till the end of riding. There will be energy gels and bars available as well as softdrinks and poweraids. There will be limited spare drinking water at the facility, so please bring enough to last the distance. We recommend one liter per hours riding.
Help Out!
Not racing? Still want to be involved? Volunteer officials are what make these events possible. It is great way to be a part of the event, meet new people and also support your family and friends who may be racing. At this stage we really need people to assist at the event centre with various tasks throughout the day- from cooking to organising. If you can spare the time to help out at this race please contact jonny@dirtclowns.com for further information. Thanks!
